Hi,
I am using the Install Service command and it works as advertized if I use it straight-away - entering text in all the relevant fields in the command dialog and its tabs. However, when a NT Service is created in Visual Studio much of the same information is collected and contained as metadata in the binary output of the project - the Service File.
My question is: Is there some way for the I'nstall Service' command to extract these fields, especially the Service Property fields, from the Service File when installing the service?
I thought that was why the word (optional) was associated with those fields on the Install Service dialog, but if they are left blank, they are just not entered during installation. My thought is that all that information is coded twice - once in the Visual Studio output file, and also in the installer. I'd prefer to let the developer code it once in the project.
Thanks in advance.
Al
