\"Local\" web updates

Post by dankell »

Quick question about web updates - do they need to be hosted on a web server or can they be hosted on a local file server?

For example we want to use web updates to manage automatic updates, but don't have an internal webserver that can be used to host the updates.

(Using InstallAware 6 Express at the moment)

Cheers

You can use a file server just fine.

Thanks

Can someone please give me a pointer on how to properly setup the installer the?

What I'm doing is:

1) Create a version of the application (Say version 1.0)

2) Create an installer project. Add the version 1 exe. Point the update string at the appropriate file location.

3) Install and reboot. Setup the update schedule.

4) Create a new version of the application (version 1.1, version 2, whatever)

*** This is where I get confused ***

Do I need to create a new installer project?
