Install Files to System 32 on 64 Bit OS

Post by compumaik »

Hi there,

I'm trying to Install Files to the System32 Folder of a 64 Bit Windows 2008. The files are copied to the SysWOW64 Folder instead. Even when I use the hard coded path c:\\windows\\system32 the files are copied to the SysWOW64 Folder. The Files are 64 Bit binaries and must be in System32.

The Installer must work on 32 Bit OS as well (not possible to set the 64 Bit flag).

Any ideas how to get the files to the System32 Folder?

You will need to flip the 64-bit Installation flag in your MSI Code :)

If you detect for 64-bit mode, and only flip in this case (and install your specific 64-bit binaries) all should be well.

Yes, that really works.
The files are copied to the System32 folder when setting the 64 installation mode flag.
Unfortuately now I have other problems, that I may aks in another topic.
Thanks!
