Upon attempting to run my application after installing it on a Windows XP machine, I get the following error message:
"The procedure entry point CxxFrameHandler3 could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll" Similarly, when I try to run the application on a machine operating with Windows Vista, I get the following: "The procedure entry point WinSqmSetDWORD could not be located in the dynamic link library ntdll.dll"
My development machine is operating under Windows 7 (64-bit) and I am using Delphi 2010 as my development tool.
I have attempted to discover if a component in my application -- such as a third party component -- could be causing the problem. That appears not to be the case since even a very minimal application, using only standard components, included as part of Delphi 2010, produces the same result.
While a self-taught programmer, I've never encountered anything like this in some 17 years of writing software. So, I'm hoping an expert here can help me figure out what might be wrong. I'd be sincerely grateful for any insights!
Thanks!

Re: .dll file problem on installation attempts
Did you test on Windows XP with the latest Service Pack 3?
It would appear from your description that Delphi 2010 has some static links to Visual C++ runtimes (msvcrt) and newer versions of core NT DLLs (ntdll).
I know InstallAware R&D had to tweak Delphi units so our setups could run on even Windows 95 Gold (released all the way back in summer '95).
You may need to do the same if you want to support older platforms, but test first against the latest service pack under Windows XP.

Re: .dll file problem on installation attempts
Also you can try to deploy the Visual C++ runtimes using the built-in InstallAware runtimes for its various versions to see if they help with the msvcrt problem - but this is immaterial for the ntdll consideration I'm afraid, as that is a core OS DLL which cannot be upgraded without an operating system service pack.

Re: .dll file problem on installation attempts
Thanks Michael for your kind reply!
I tried installing the C runtimes in InstallAware, but no change in the result. I believe that the XP machines all have service pack 3 installed, but I'll verify that before I try again!
Thanks again!
