Hi,
I'm currently evaluate InstallAware to use it for my software deployment.
Currently the main reason I need it is to be able to use web media block in order to install .net framework from the web and keep the basic installation file small.
I have managed to create the web deployment which is working fine if I copy the 7zip file locally before installation.
However if I try to download locally only the installation EXE file (after uploading all media blocks to my site) it fail to download the .net framework web media block .
I review similar issue reported by other users in the forum and following that I modified the 7zip file name removing all spaces and use only lower case in the file name, rebuilding the web deployment, and uploading the files again but still I get the same problem. I have validated that the URL location configured in the web media block section is valid and I can download the files using the web browser successfully .
Other than that the product is looks great and very easy to configure, but I must solve the above problem in order to use it.
Any idea what else I can try?
Thanks
Web Media Block fail to download
Re: Web Media Block fail to download
Hi,
I am having the same problem... can successfully download the file from the website using the browser, but the install fails to download it.
Does no one have an answer ?
Is there a log file that we can look in to determine error codes etc. for the download ?
BTW... using registered copy if IA9.

Re: Web Media Block fail to download
I think I have solved my problem.
It seems I had an 'empty' web media block. The WMB was associated with a feature that didn't contain any files, just a registry setting. Since the feature had no files the WMB was empty and didn't get built when the install was built, but it seems the setup program still tried to download it. Not sure why the WMB was created in the first place... the feature was added sometime ago but I don't recall manually adding a WMB for it, and nor can I think why I would have wanted to. Perhaps IA added it automatically when the feature was added ? If so, perhaps IA could be updated so it's a bit smarter about handling empty WMB's (i.e either build an empty block to download, or have the setup program skip blocks that were empty when it was built etc).
