Hi,
I am trying to re-install IA 8.1 (8.1.8000.2008) onto a new PC using the original evaluation installer I kept when I first purchased IA. I choose "Studio" and then "Custom" and just de-selected the "Visual Studio Addin".
However, it gives the following error:
"Extraction of installation data download from the web has failed..." when trying to get the "InstallAware Automation" media block. See the attached "noname.gif" for a screenshot.
Using Fiddler to view whats going on (see attached noname2.gif) it appears the files have been removed from the InstallAware web site.
How can I reinstall please?
Thanks,
Mike.

Re: InstallAware Evaluation install fails - downloading data
We don't have old versions downloadable. This is why your license delivery text reads:
Keep your downloads, passwords, and license files safe! If you don't renew, you will need them to reinstall. You will not need an Internet connection or activation as long as you have kept all your files as instructed by the license delivery email.Free Upgrades: Using your Customer Account, you can take advantage of free upgrades to InstallAware - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - without having to manually contact InstallAware. First, install the latest trial version from our public website. Next, log on to your private Customer Account, then regenerate and reinstall your activation file.
IMPORTANT! Always backup your trial version installer, as well as your activation file, in a safe location. InstallAware does not keep old version trial downloads or activation files; therefore once your Customer Account expires, you will not be able to re-install your product unless you have previously made backups.

Re: InstallAware Evaluation install fails - downloading data
I did and I have. What I did not realise, and is not clear in the licence delivery text, is that the installer still relies on downloads from the IA web site. The option to download the extra files needed is optional in the installer and defaults to un-ticked!! Not helpful.Always backup your trial version installer, as well as your activation file, in a safe location.
Fortunately, I located the extra downloaded files on my old machine in C:\Program Files\InstallAware\InstallAwareDownloads, so I'm good.
Thanks,
Mike.
