uninstall sequence

I'm currently evaluating IA and like it a lot. I have been able to create an installation program for our app in less than a day. Only the handling of the dialogs and inserting company logos in every single dialog is a bit of a pain.

Now my problem: when I create a new installation for a maintenance release I have noticed that the previous version is uninstalled before the first dialog is displayed. Can you place this uninstall sequence just before the new version is installed? I don't my users have to worry about uninstalling and if the decide to cancel the installation of the new version it's already too late and the previous version has been removed.

One more question: when I try to build a .NET Setup it says: 'This item has not been installed...'. I did not install all the frameworks because of lack of space on my virtual machine. Is this the reason why this error comes up? I don't really need all frameworks in all flavours.

Hi Thomas,

Good questions, and easy answers are available for both.

First, just install the .NET runtime versions you need - they do take up a lot of space indeed. When you have installed the ones you really need, you won't have this error in your IDE when you try to add them to your setups.

Next, just cut and paste the uninstall code from the prereq section of your script to right above Apply Install. That will fix the timing for you. Remember - because nothing has been hard coded in InstallAware, you can tweak the entire script to your liking!

.NET Setup: I installed the following frameworks: 3.0, 3.0 SP1, 3.0 SP2, 3.5, 3.5 SP1, 4.0
And I'm still getting the message 'This item has not been installed...'

3.0 does require 2.0 as a prereq (you can see that it auto-selects it), 3.0 is just some extra libraries on top of 2.0 (4.0 appears to be an independent release).

I checked the installation again and the 'Template Projects' was not selected. Sorry about the trouble.
