Cannot write to registry

I have a fairly simple installation where I try to write a string value to the registry. But the entry is never written to the registry. I displayed a messagebox in the skript so I'm sure the code is executed.
The installation runs on a 32-bit Win7 machine.
I try to write to HKLM\Software\SwissSoft\SwissSalaer, Value: EXEPath, Data: $TARGETDIR$

Any ideas?

Found the problem: I was writing to the registry after the Apply Install command.
