Uninstalling

Post by penfold »

Hi,

I have some questions regarding uninstalling.

1. If you use the in built script tools, i.e. install files, write regirty etc, will the installer remember the files installed and clean -up ?

2. If you add a program via the registry setting writeregistry "Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" will the installer remove the entry and stop the program on uninstallation?

3. Does it automatically remove the folders entered in program files?, or do we have to use deletefiles?

Regards

Dear Steve,

Are you referring to a project created from a Basic Setup template? If you are:
1) Your uninstallation script is aware of the files you installed and the registry values you created. For example, if you add a file that installs to the TARGETDIR, InstallAware will install that file while installing, repair that file when repairing, and will remove that file when uninstalling. In other words, the installation engine logs your actions and will roll them back when uninstalling.
2) You mean if you add a registry value within InstallAware? If yes, refer to #1 - it refers to registry values as well.
3) The answer is yes - again, refer to #1

Good luck!
