Hello,
In the dialog "connect" there are two text fields (edit)
One is "ServerName" , the other is "ServerPort"
The object rule is that both text fields must be filled in, then the "Next" button is available.
I want to predefine a value for the second Text field "ServerPort" so for start up the value "8080" is shown. But the user can change this value if he want.
I tried this value "8080" with the property "Text".
If the dialog is shown the value "8080" is available and "ServerName" is empty. Problem is, if you fill in a value for the first text field "ServerName" the value "8080" for ServerPort will be deleted and now it is blank. Why this?
How can I pre define a text to the second text field "ServerPort" like "8080" ?
How can I work with "Receive Data from Written Variable value"? Because I have two text fields and I need a pre defined value only for the second text field
I know I can do a "Set Variable ServerPort to 8080" before I call "show dialog" but how can I asign this only to the text field "ServerPort"?
thank a lot for help
regards

Howto assign text in text field (edit) to dialog?
Re: Howto assign text in text field (edit) to dialog?
Dear Hansjoerg,
After assigning the variable ServerPort, set the text of the dialog's severt port field to $ServerPort$ and make sure Receive Value from Variable. Let me know if that helped.

Re: Howto assign text in text field (edit) to dialog?
Dear Aviv,
thank for help.
I tried your tip.
I did;
label: Server Connect
Set Variable SERVERPORT to 8080
Get Component Client Selection State into Variable SELECTED
if Variable SELECTED Equals TRUE
Display Dialog: serverconnect, wait for dialog to return (modal)
end
In the dialog editor I choose the textfield "ServerPort" and filled into the Text property the variable $SERVERPORT$
It receives value from "Written variable"
But now if the dialog appears in the text field there is $SERVERPORT$ instead of 8080
What did I wrong?

Re: Howto assign text in text field (edit) to dialog?
Dear Aviv,
I got it!
I misunderstood the Written variable value.
My dialog text field has the name "ServerPort" but it writes the value to variable MY_SERVERPORT
so I have to change to
Set Variable MY_SERVERPORT to 8080
and it works like I expected.
thanks a lot for help
kind regards
Hansjoerg
