After installing a new instance of SQLServer 2008 I need to find the physical path to the specific SQLServer.exe so I can set up a rule in the firewall. Any way to determine the path?
thanks

Finding the path to the sqlserver.exe
Re: Finding the path to the sqlserver.exe
Hi smyen,
Perhaps it is stored in the registry? You can consult Microsoft and ask them how this location is determined.

Thanks - I found it in the registry.
A comment on ReadRegistry and CheckRegistry: I have an X64 installer and the X64 flag is set right at the beginning. However it appears to become unset during the script, as I got always NO$KEY during the CheckRegistry call. Setting the X64 flag again just before the call did the trick.
