Our app consists of a single EXE file that installs into the user's roaming profile (%MYAPPDATA%\product). We distribute MSI installation files (created with the Group Policies wizard).
One user reported this strange error during installation (see screenshot). Bizarrely, the installation appears to be asking for itself! The filename requested is the same as the MSI file that we distribute.
The user reported that this installation is on a Win2K8 terminal server. If this is the cause of the issue, what can be done to fix it?

Re: Strange error message during install
Hi,
Are you able to test this on other machines (both Windows 2008 and other OS)?

Re: Strange error message during install
This installer has been rolled out for a few months at hundreds of sites with a mix of Windows OSes, using local installs and GP installs.
I have not duplicated the error myself (I don't have a TS).

Thank you.
We were unable to reproduce this. Is the user using a personal security product?

Re: Strange error message during install
The user says they are not using a PSP.
When this was tested at InstallAware, was the target directory set to %MYAPPDATA%\subfolder?

Re: Strange error message during install
I do change the Change/Uninstall button in Add/Remove Programs to just be Uninstall (i.e. I change the NoModify registry key). And I turn off the branding.
The installer, just installs the 2 EXEs and adds some shortcuts to the start menu and desktop.
If you are permitted, could you please run this on the test terminal server?
http://www.rja.net/comb/COMBDataSuiteSetup.msi
If the same error is encountered, then it's worth looking at the script itself to find a workaround. If no error is encountered, then it's a difference in the configuration of my end-user's Terminal Server. If I had a Terminal Server, I would do so myself, of course.
Thanks,
RT
