Testing an edit control for emptiness
Testing an edit control for emptiness
I'm using the dialogue editor in InstallAware Studio 2012 and I want to test that the user actually entered something in a particular edit control. Which property tells me that there is text in the control? Thank you.

Re: Testing an edit control for emptiness
Dear Mfishman,
To test if an edit control is empty define an object rule for that control using Dialog Editor.
Supposing you want the NEXT button (where control ID is Next) enabled when an Edit control (where control ID is myEdit) is not empty;
1 Open the dialog that contains the edit control.
2 Double-click the controls. The Define Interactive Characteristics dialog appears.
3 Add the following Object Rules for the Edit Control as:
if(myEdit.Text =) Then Next.Enabled := False;
if(myEdit.Text <>) Then Next.Enabled := True;
In addition I suggest you to have a look at Registrition Dialog available with any InstallAware sample, that already cover this functionality.
