Hi,
I am trying to deploy several blank folders to the appdata directory in 7 and application data in XP using various variables. However, I noticed that when I create folders using the windows variable for example %username% I will get a directory with %username% in it. However, when a file is installed in the install portion using the exact same path (I have verified this by copying and pasting the path from the create folder to install file lines) %username% is replaced by the users username in the path. Why does it work for installing a file but not creating a folder?
Here is the config, top file goes into the path starting with the actual user name, the folder creation below goes into the path starting literally with %username% the create folder is now the next line below too in case the variable for $localappdata$ was changing at some point too but still, create folder takes the %username% environment variable literally

Re: Environment variable not working on a blank folder
Dear User,
I am not really sure if I follow your question.
Can you try to be more clear? when in your install flow are you trying to create folders? which parameters are you using?
Please note, if you want to share code use the CODE tag ... otherwise it will be unusable.
Let me know.
Regards
