I am working on creating an installer that will work on both 32 and 64 bit .I have found answers to the first part of my question by searching this forum.
I still need some help with runtimes: My installer has to run sql server 2005 sp3.How do I go by when selecting runtimes? Do I select one 32 and one 64 for each runtime?
I am using Francesco's intial script he posted for a similar question.

Re: 32/64 installer
Dear ALEXD,
Yes, if your package have to be used with both target platfoms, you have to add both runtimes.
Then in your main script, localize where are placed the scripts used to verify if the runtimes are required by the target OS(generally these scripts have as name "check[runtime name]). Modify your code to execute these runtimes conditionally as required by the target platform.
For example, as below with NET 4 runtimes
Doing this only the correct runtime platform will be installed.
Hope this helps you.

if Variable ISWIN64 not Equals TRUE
Include Script: checknet4aip_x86
Include Script: checknet4aip_client_x86

end
Hope this helps you.
