Hi Guys,
I am running InstallAware Studio 9.26.11 on Windows 7 64bit.
I have 64 bit COM controls and I need to import the registry settings from them. When I use the Registry import it will not import 64 COM control settings.
I have tested on a 32bit platform and it will import settings from a 32bit COM control. We no longer ship 32 bit stuff ( due to Memory constraints ).
I have found it is doing this and failing
"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\regasm.exe" "F:\Projects\Zetica\MultiZarp\MZPlugins\Redistributables\x64Autobar\AutoBar.dll" "/regfile:C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallAware\InstallAware 2012\{F8C92168-982A-4E27-935C-6E247297DE60}.reg" /silent
RegAsm : error RA0000 native
is this because our COM are native and compiled in C++ (VS2005)?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Registry import will not import 64 COM settings
Dear User,
Honestly I suspect there are some problems with your 64 bit control.
I'm not a Com expert but I tried with some standard component and with my test machine works fine.
By the way I don't understand wich is the relation with:
If you have .NET Framework 2.0 installed, regasm would be in following path (assuming you have 32-bit OS)
C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework\v2.0.50727\regasm.exe
If you have 64-bit OS as well as .NET framework installed, you should find 32bit version of regasm in,
C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework\v2.0.50727\regasm.exe
and 64 bit version of regasm should be in,
C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework64\v2.0.50727\regasm.exe
Regards

In any case and for what I know, you should use the 64 version of REGASM for that ( ... supposing you are refering to 64 bit dll).I have found it is doing this and failing

Re: Registry import will not import 64 COM settings
Dear User,
just an update about my previous reply;
64 bit COM objects can not be automatically imported using the Registry design view (in the IDE's visual part) by clicking the Import button, because we did not have 64 bit COM import support.
