Hi all,
I recently had an issue at a customer where the QUICKLAUNCHDIR returned empty in a Win7 x86 machine which caused the entire installation to fail. The same installer works perfectly on numerous other machines so I don't think it's a general issue. I added an extra check when creating the shortcut so it was easily fixed in the installer itself.
I wonder what could cause the variable to be empty in the first place? And is it really ok for the installer to fail and roll back when failing to create a shortcut?
QUICKLAUNCHDIR is empty?

Re: QUICKLAUNCHDIR is empty?
Dear Bjarne,
the only possible cause that comes to mind, .... probably exist something with your script that in some circumstances, causes the variable to be empty
Are you able to find out any possible useful information to reproduce it?
Have you tried to use a MessaggeBox to display the variable value where it is assigned in your script?
Regards

Re: QUICKLAUNCHDIR is empty?
I have no clue why this occurred and how to reproduce it
The installer log shows "QUICKLAUNCHDIR,," in the '*** Variables ***' section (the empty space between the comma's should include a physical directory path)
Its not "my script", its a part of the native IA script (Get Folder Location), see below.

~Get Folder Location~

~QUICKLAUNCHDIR~
~26~
~FALSE~

Re: QUICKLAUNCHDIR is empty?
Dear Bjarne,
As you can understand, it is not really easy to help you ... possibly it is a very simple cause generating the issue.
I can only suggest you to try to debug the problem even creating a sample project just to test the Get Folder Location command with that machine.
lately there have been several cases due to AV applications problem ... doesn't seems related to your case ... but you could easly verify it.
