Multiple Instances has not found the Features

Post by JohnO »

I have pasted the code from the Multiple Instances sample into my MSIcode. I pasted it before the 'Check App Requirements' as it is in the sample. The mechanism is working in terms of the dialogs, but the Choose Features panel is empty. Why is is this?

It has just occurred to me that I might have to put this later on in the code, after the features have been defined.
But, if this code isn't early on, will the multiple install be detected at the correct point in the install sequence.

[edit
I have added a feature to the sample called Notepad, and in Files, I copy notepad.exe from Windows to $TARGETDIR$. When I run this installer, the feature is found in the dialog when installing a second instance.

So there is something else in my project that is causing the problem. It has quite a few compiler variables that are defined when the installer is built. Maybe it's something to with having modified it by commenting out the WMBs, in order to make it a patchable, single Monolithic Web installer? Could it be that the Transform code doesn't recognise this condition?

Dear John,

It is not easy to reply to your question without having your code.

I may suggest you to verify where in your code sequence you initialize your features ... probably, with adding the code to handle Multiple Instances, you have accidentally missed something.
