SQL Server Express (IE7R2)

Post by Bar_BQ »

Hi,

I'm experiencing a strange problem with installation of SQL Server Express.
Actually, there are two problems.

1. SSE package creates folder ~sqltmp or ~sqltmp0 if one already exists. Problem appears when both folders exist, then installation doesn't work. I figured out that these folders act key role in this case: after deleting these folders installation goes fine.
BUT... I can't see instruction that allows to remove folder automatically.

Question: How do you usually manage this problem?

2. The bigger problem shows up when I try to cancel SSE installation process. When I click 'Cancel' the message about it appears, but the progress window (not in modal mode) doesn't dissapear. Installation process seems to crash :( Below you can see the code:

[DEFINE WEB MEDIA Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express]
Get Component Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Selection State into Variable SELECTED
if Variable SELECTED Equals TRUE
Display Dialog: progressprereq, use as progress dialog (non-modal)
Include Script: checksql2005
if Variable SQL2005 Equals TRUE
GoTo Label: sql_serversetup
else
Include Script: setupsql2005
end
Hide Dialog
end

In original setupsql2005 I changed only parameters password and instance name.

Question: How to solve that problem?

Regarding the first problem, run:

Delete Files Recursive C:\\~sqltmp\\*.*
Call DLL Function kernel32.dll, RemoveDirectoryA,C:\\~sqltmp

before (and after) installation of SQL Server Express
