I run under a Vista account that is a member of the local Administrators group. I have UAC turned on, which means that when InstallAware (miae.exe) starts I always get the UAC elevation prompt and must elevate in order to run InstallAware.
The attached HowToRunInstallAwareAsStandardUser.doc explains the steps I took to allow running InstallAware without getting the UAC elevation prompt.
I started down the path of getting InstallAware to run as a standard user because I keep my InstallAware projects on a network drive that gets mapped to a drive letter in my login script. When InstallAware forced me to elevate privileges, the elevated InstallAware instance did not see the mapped drive. Thus I wanted to be able to run InstallAware as a standard user that could see the mapped drives.
After I got InstallAware tweaked so that it ran nicely as a standard user, I found the following Microsoft knowledgebase article that explains how to tweak Vista so that the elevated user token sees your mapped drives.
