I just bought IA 9 and I get the same problem. What is the solution to this? I am using IA from VS 2008 Shell that comes with Delphi Prism.

Clicking "Build Setup" builds the app and then a dialog comes up saying "Error during build: violation at address 2E7556C0 in module 'miaauto.dll'. Read of address 00000268."

I would think that would show you where in the code the problem is. Then guess how that place could get in trouble...

Bump. Any news? If an update were available, how does one get it?

do you get a more descriptive error in the IA IDE when trying to compile this project?

Can you submit a basic sample project to our support ticket system for us to investigate?

Not sure what you mean.

I thought the VS IDE InstallAware menu item would CREATE the InstallAware project. I created a new Delphi Prism Windows Application project in Visual Studio 2008 Shell and then did an "InstallAware|Build Setup". Then VS compiled my app and IA gave an error dialog.

The IA dialog said: "Error during build: Access violation at address 351756C0 in module "miaauto.dll". Read of address 00000268."

That is it.

If you have Delphi Prism, just do what I said above. If not, I can zip it all up and send it someplace if you tell me where.

same problem here

Same problem here. Very simple test project, evaluating Installaware, "Error during build: Access violation at address 1AD856C0 in module miaaauto.dll. Read of address 00000268.

Unless this problem is solved, or seriously investigated (I am not under that impression) I'm very reluctant buying (a very expensive) licence...

Windows 7 64bit, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 evaluation version, 16Gb ram, 2 x xeon.

It has been a while since my post. I don't remember if I "posted a ticket", but if I did, how would I look for its status?

And, as I asked before, are the updates for IA and if so, how does one get them? No menu item in IA. In fact, I don't even see a way to find the version that I have and any updates that have been applied except maybe the splash screen.

This is disappointing at best that I can't even create an IA project from my VS project.

You schedule updates right after installing the product. You must have already chosen a schedule which you don't remember anymore, you can check under scheduled tasks to find out.

Okay, I'll bite. Where are "scheduled tasks"? If you are talking about Windows 7 Task Scheduler, there is nothing there for InstallAware.

Hello there,

I just recently installed InstallAware 9 trial version on my Windows 7 64bit system. I am seeing the same error when I am just trying to debug my program. What is the cause for this?

I don't need to build the Setup at the moment, can I just disable InstallAware in VS 2008 for now?

Many thanks!

We have just published InstallAware 9 R2 version 9.09 on our main website. Please install this latest version. This latest version fixes some sporadic Visual Studio issues for all versions (2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010).

I downloaded this release so that I could use the IA9 product that I have. But the download wants a password. I don't remember getting one with the initial download, but it was so long ago I could have forgotten. I don't see that I stored anything that I could find for this. I assume I am entitled to this version that works. What should I use for this password? Hopefully this isn't just some trial version, but the real thing that will update my current copy. I haven't even used the copy I have because it didn't work from within the VS 2008 Shell IDE.

Enter your email address on the download page to receive the latest trial password. It will be emailed to you instantly. The download you have is a trial.

You will also need to regenerate your license from your customer account. For that, follow the instructions that came with your purchase.

You always install the trial first and then the license file. Since you already have v9, v9 R2 is a free upgrade for you!
