Error code #2753 while installing on WinXP powered notebook

Hi!

We are experiencing one strange error while installing software on one notebook powered by WinXP. It says:

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate the problem with this package. The error code is #2753

I'd like to ask what does this error code mean and would appreciate any help to solve this issue. The error occurred after uninstalling the older version of our software and while installing the newer one. We used InstallAware Developer 8 to build the installation package.

The error code refers to a error code received from the MSI Engine (Microsoft) -- have a look on MSDN for the error meaning.

We also encountered this error on a maschine (not notebook) runnig Windows 7:

Whether installation nor uninstallation works, always Error 2753.

We already tried:

(1) regsvr32 vbscript.dll => no effect
(2) Windows Installer Cleanup Utility => no effect

How to get rid of that? Any help is welcome ...

Error 2753 could also be an inaccurate merge module, see here for some more information on that: http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewt ... 931#p21513.
