Edit XML File

Hi,

I'm trying out the evaluation version of Installaware 11 and am trying to use the XML edit to modify my config file. The file is pretty basic:

<add key="Topology.Server.Port" value="8084"/>
<add key="Synchronization.RemoteStatusCheck.MaxPeriod" value="00:05:00"/>
<add key="ShowSiteNameInTittleBar" value="true"/>
</appSettings>
</configuration>

My first question is that the 'Action' drop down is disabled and I can't seem to find the option to allow for me to change it to 'Update Only'

My next questions is how to use the dialog to edit the values for ="Topology.Server.Host" and ="Topology.Server.Port". I can't seem to figure out how to use it properly. I'm not 100% sure that it is suposed to be used in this manner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I am trying to do is modify the contents of an XML file installed with the product. The content of the file is in my first post.

I decided to try and use the XML files option under System Architecture.

I'm able to add a new XML file and enter in the correct path, but I am having trouble determining the correct 'element path' to change the following values in my XML file:

Topology.server.host
Topology.server.port

What is happening is that the file is being found and backed up, but the contents are not being changed the way I would like.

So my questions are:

1) Is this the correct use of "XML Files' ?
2) If so, can you assist me in determing the correct 'element path'?
3) ALso the 'Action' drop down is disabled and locked on 'Create Only'. How can it be changed to 'Update Only'?

Thank you so much. That has definetly helped!

I just have one last question. Please see the attached screenshot. The Action drop down is disabled and is showing 'Create Only' so it will only add the new key/value pair and not update an existing one. I just realized that we did have a license for IA 11 so I registered the product. I have version 11.0.2.2011 on my machine. Am I missing something? According to the help I should just be able to change the action. Once I can do this it should work perfectly.

This shouldn't be the case - which edition of InstallAware do you have installed?

I have version: 11.0.2.2011 installed. Studio Admin edition. I'm using the GUI to access this features not MSI Code.

What happens when you double-click the Edit XML File commands in the MSIcode? Are you able to change the action in that dialog?
