Post by redbyron »

Hello,

i cannot create a patch for my projects, it allways uninstalls the previous version and then fails with the "system cannot find the file specified" error...

Dear Michael,

I understand that my answer may seem obvious, but I suppose there is a problem with your project.

Have you followed the instruction reported at: http://www.installaware.com/publication ... guides.htm with the file "Using InstallAware to Patch Software Products"?

I understand that my answer may seem obvious, but I suppose there is a problem with your project.

I suggest to you if you still have problem, to start a simple project as described in the above document and see if you still have problem.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
Francesco Toscano

Hello Francesco,

for some reason, when i opened from the UI the Project Properties-> Compiler Variables, the list was filled with attributes used by the compiler in order to build the project.

Among them, there was the BUILDMODE variable set to CD... I think that although i was building a Patch from the ribbon command, that variable did not change...

I deleted all of the compiler variables from that window, i only left the CACHESOURCES=TRUE and now when i build a patch at least it does not prompt me to uninstall the previous version...

I don't know why the IDE got confused with the variables, you should check if there is a bug on that area.

I am reviewing all the script in order to succees with the patch. If i encounter more problems, i will update or post a new topic.
Regards,

Michael
