I had my program built by IA.
I need for my install to first check to see if there is an old install on the persons system - if there is it needs to uninstall that first then install the new version.
My install is very simple - it changes a few registry codes and places 4 files into the signature directory for Outlook.
My reinstall is simply replacing those 4 files with updated versions.
I have tried using the Modify option - it runs, but then the old files are still there.
Thanks,
Paula

Re: uninstall before installing
Dear Paula,
by your information, I can only suppose that exist an error somewhere with your project for the updated version of your package installation.
The upgrading functionality of a previous version, it is integrated by default with InstallAware.
to give you just a sample without applying particular settings;
- create a new project from scratch (based on any of the available nstallAware templates)
- add a file to the project TARGETDIR
- build the project
- execute the generated package on the target machine to install it
- Once installed, rebuild the poroject once again (without any additional modification)
- Then run the new generated setup package on the target machine where you installed the previous.
You will verify that before to proceed with the new setup installation, the procees will notify you that a previous product version has been found installed.
If you continue the already installed package will be first removed (uninstalled) prior to proceed with installing the new product update.
Finally, I suggest you to verify if; PRODUCTCODE and UPGRADECODE settings are sharing exact the same value along your projects (with my example I left unchanged the same for both).
Hope this helps you.
PLEASE NOTE.
