SQL Express uninstall woes: where do its .msi's get cached?

Postby keith » Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:39 pm

Hello,

I'm installing SQL Express as an app prereq; I'm also uninstalling it at uninstall using a .bat file (Uninstall MSI Setup doesn't work). However, SQL Express installs a handful of things (VSS Writer, Support Files, Native Client) that DON'T get uninstalled in the "normal" way (unless you use REMOVE=ALL which is not recommended, and the Native Client is still left behind). To uninstall these you need to use the .msi's that installed them.

The IA SQL Express bundle must contain these .msi's since they do get installed, but is there a reliable way to locate them for uninstall or to otherwise determine their GUID's?

Thanks!

Keith
