What could be the reason for Apply Install to return Cancel immediately ? Cancel-button has not been clicked and this happens only on one server currently. Installation succeeds on my laptop and on a few other servers.
This installer uses Windows Installer, not native engine, and is built with latest X17. Tried several times and also with logging (/L-option) but it did not log anything from the MSI so apparently Windows installer is not even started or something. Previous version of the installer built by X14 installs successfully also on that problematic server.
Apply Install returns Cancel
Re: Apply Install returns Cancel
Maybe you could run a quick test enabling the native engine and checking if that cancels out instantly, too?
Otherwise, it could be some kind of policy restriction on the affected server that is causing MSI to instantly trap out.

Re: Apply Install returns Cancel
After some more testing the problems was found. Actually that installer did not work on any machine. We build both single and web installs when we do a release build. It just happened that the web installer did work as it should but single installer did not. Seems like IA had f**ked up file contents of almost all files when compressing the source content for single installer. I could verify that by extracting the contents of installer using 7-Zip which gave plenty of messages about data/CRC errors when extracting.
We haven't had this kind of problem before until we upgraded to X17. I wonder why IA did not notice that the package integrity is not OK until after Apply Install ?

Very interesting!
Are you able to reproduce this issue consistently - the corrupt generation of compressed payload data?
We did upgrade our compression engine in X17 and this should be investigated fully.
We'd need to have access to your raw data and your compression settings (primarily the strength of compression).
Also, we'd need to know how much RAM you have on your build machine, as RAM requirements at maximum compression can be very stringent.
